On behalf of the staff, children and governors I should like to welcome you to the Christow Community Primary School website. Christow is a happy, caring school where children learn in a stimulating and nurturing environment. Our school is situated in the beautiful village of Christow within an active and supportive community and has excellent facilities.
We strive to ensure that every child has the best educational experiences and develops a lifelong love of learning. Our motto is ‘building a love of learning’; we take great delight in nurturing the individual talents of our children and supporting them to become confident, inquiring and imaginative individuals. At Christow Community Primary School, we endeavour to provide a happy and safe environment where your child will be encouraged and supported to reach their full potential.
Our school vision is underpinned by an ethos which encourages care, compassion, consideration, co-operation and commitment (Christow’s ‘5 Cs’), and our golden rule is: ‘Treat other people as you would like them to treat you’. We operate a positive rewards system where praise is central, and encourages children to be proud of themselves and “Our School”.
Our school is a thriving community; it provides children with a very secure place to learn, and supports their development into responsible young people where their academic and personal growth is nurtured. Although Maths and English are given high importance within our creative curriculum, we are committed to the development of the whole child and ensure that sport, music and art are also given high priority through specialist staff. As a member of the Templer Academy Schools Trust (TAST), we are able to draw on additional support and facilities from other schools within the TAST family; this includes two secondary schools (Coombeshead Academy and Teign School) and a primary school (Rydon Primary School).
We strongly believe that the partnership between home and school is very important. As parents or carers, you are encouraged to take an active role in your child’s education. We have an ‘open door’ policy and are always eager to hear from you.
Our most recent OFSTED inspection highlights how children ‘love the school, both for lessons and the out-of-school lesson activities such as clubs.’ We feel privileged to be able to educate such wonderful young people and hope that our website gives you a flavour of the passion and dedication to learning that is alive in our school.
I hope you enjoy finding out about Christow Community Primary School and all the wonderful experiences and opportunities it offers.
If you have not already visited the school, we would be delighted to meet you.
